Well done to @JasonPlato for digging this little gem out yesterday: a rather awesome film of the weekend when Oulton Park circuit was unveiled to the world from 1953. Despite rumours to the contrary, neither Jason or Matt Neal were participating in the event. It just seems like they’ve been there since we all wore tweed and braces.
In comparison with many circuits, little has changed in Cheshire from that day to this – which is why Oulton is habitually referred to as ‘Jurassic Park’. It’s fast, dangerous and drivers love it – so here’s a rather nifty ‘then and now’ and a little driving lesson from the Plato in full flight on his way to pole position in the BTCC this year.
